iPad Pro rumors are at their peak right now, specially with the launch even just one week away. The rumor of iPad Pro gaining a USB-C port to replace the lightning port was difficult to believe at first, but with time, more leaks have been corroborating this possibility. The latest leaks come from the Global Sources Mobile Electronics Trade Fair 2018 which recently took place in Hong Kong.
According to MacOtakra, the event was absent of any manufacturers presenting any accessory related to the next iPad Pro, but the manufacturers at the event all share the common knowledge that the next iPad Pro will have a USB-C port. One of the attendees also had the dimensions of the iPad Pro with them.
As per the image below, the dimensions match an earlier iPad Pro leak by Slashleaks. The new iPad Pro is expected to ship in 2 variants. The smaller variant will be 7 inches in width and 9.7 inches in height while the bigger model will be 8.5 inches in width and 11 inches tall. Both models will be 5.9mm thin and the bezels around the sides of both devices will be 6mm thick.
Other features rumored for the new iPad include the removal of the TouchID and home button in favor of a TrueDepth camera for FaceID and 40W fast charging made possible through the USB-C Connector on the device. The USB-C connector will also be used to output video to external displays. An A12X processor will power the new iPads.
MacOtakara also states that the October 30th event will have a presence of strong creative minds to introduce the new line of products, with some of the speakers coming from Adobe. Due to all the hype the software company has created with Photoshop CC for iPad, Project Aero, and Project Gemini, we will likely see on-stage demos of each in action. Perhaps some early beta previews might be released too.
Apple recently sent out invites for their October event. The event is scheduled for October 30 and will take place in Brooklyn. You can read our round-up for all the announcements expected from the event along with the iPad Pro which include a new Apple Pencil, new 13” MacBook with Retina Display and TouchID, second-generation AirPods, AirPower and new Mac Mini.
