tvOS 12.0.1 – minor update for Apple TV
tvOS is Apple’s set-top box operating system which was introduced with the fourth generation Apple TV. Since launch, it has received good support from third-party developers and Apple has built a nice ecosystem around it. Thanks to a TV app and apps by almost every major TV and video provider, Apple TV has become the perfect product for cord cutters. With its support for HomeKit, and Siri Remote, it is also useful as a hub for smart devices.
Originally announced at WWDC 2018, and after a few months of beta testing, tvOS 12 was released with a number of major new features, ranging from interactive screensavers to Dolby Atmos support. Read our detailed coverage of all the new features in tvOS 12.
It is not uncommon for Apple to release minor updates, right after a major release, which are aimed at fixing bugs. Apple is also beta testing tvOS 12.1 beta, however, it is unknown what are the new features that the company is testing. The release notes do not mention anything and no new features have been found by testers either. tvOS 12.0.1 was released without any beta testing, which means that it is unlikely to contain any major changes.
