Apple has released iOS 12 Golden Master build to developers, after their event today in Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park, Cupertino. The GM build is marked 16A366 and is available in Apple Developer Center. This will likely be the same build that will be released to all iOS device owners, on September 17.

iOS 12 had been in beta testing since WWDC 2018. There were around 12 developer beta releases, after which we have reached the GM roll-out stage. To see how iOS 12 betas evolved over so many releases, check out our change log, which we updated through the beta testing period.

Just like last year’s iOS 11 release, when some features like AirPlay 2 were delayed, Apple has delayed Group FaceTime this year. Although it was available in a few beta releases, it was eventually removed. Apple mentioned in release notes that Group FaceTime would be released this fall, in a future update to iOS 12.

iOS 12 brings a number of improvements and new features to iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Users with devices as old as iPad Air and iPhone 5s will see significant performance improvements during normal system usage and app launches. Other new features include redesigned stocks and voice memos apps, a new Measure app, Siri Shortcuts, new Memoji and Animojis, Screen Time, Camera effects, 70 new emojis and much more.
